Apprentice gains all-round experience with Leicestershire logistics company

Core Management Logistics (CML) has recently taken on an apprentice from Countesthorpe to provide him with first-hand knowledge of a career in the logistics industry.

CML, based in Magna Park, Lutterworth, welcomed apprentice Tom Sanders to the team as part of his studies for his Level 3 Extended Business BTEC Course at Sir Frank Whittle Studio School.

17-year-old Tom is working on a rotational basis in each of CML's departments, in order to gain experience in all areas of the logistics company to help him with his course which focuses on every aspect of business.

Tom, who attends college three days per week, has already supported the marketing, finance and HR departments and more recently the operations team at the supply-chain services company.

He said, "Working with CML is really helping my studies as I've already gained so much practical experience which I can apply to my coursework.

"One of my favourite parts of the apprenticeship so far was an interview I had with CML's Managing Director, Graham Copley. He helped me to get a great understanding of CML and the service it provides to its customers and he gave me some useful career advice on the importance of first impressions and how to succeed within a business."

In the coming weeks Tom will be working with the Freight department to understand the different processes of freight forwarding and how CML delivers that service for its customers.
