Truck and bus manufacturer MAN Truck & Bus UK has supplied the RNLI with a new MAN TGM curtainsider to join its fleet of 12 trucks.

Paul O'Brien RNLI transport co-ordinator explained: "We run a fleet of 12 trucks at the moment ranging from 15 tonnes through to 24 tonnes and three of them are MAN. The vehicles do an average 80,000 to 90,000 miles a year doing coastal deliveries such as taking lifeboat spares to any of our 237 lifeboat stations around the UK and Ireland. We buy our vehicles outright, but don't have the facilities for maintenance."

He continued: "We have a very good relationship with our local MAN dealer, ETS Truck & Van in Poole, so we will be dealing with them. MAN offered an excellent deal to us and that included the repair and maintenance package too."

Colin Gale, Managing Director of ETS Truck & Van, added: "We are proud to count the RNLI as one of our prestige customers. "All our customers are important to us, but as a lifesaving charity we feel a particular responsibility to deliver our highest levels of service to the RNLI."

Aaron Tamplin, MAN Sales Executive, said: "We are pleased to have met the RNLI's requirements and that they found the MAN package so competitive. We look forward to seeing the TGM out on the roads helping to deliver the lifesaving equipment nationwide."
