The Fortec Distribution Network has appointed Rachel Gay as its new Regional Commercial Manager for the southern region.

Once the youngest General Manager of any depot for the carrier Target Express, Rachel brings a wealth of experience to her new role at Fortec.

Having entered the transport sector straight from school she rose to become a multi-site manager responsible for more than 150 employees and a multi-million pound budget for a major express parcel carrier before joining CPL Industries as an area manager.

She is now responsible for looking after 29 of Fortec's members who are based in an area stretching from Kent to Lincolnshire and across to Slough, including Hertfordshire, Milton Keynes, Northamptonshire, Ipswich, Essex and Brighton.

Dave Spong, General Manager – Commercial of the Fortec Distribution Network said: "We are delighted that Rachel has joined Fortec as she has a great track record and a wealth of experience within the industry. She is a great asset to the team."

Rachel said: "I am enjoying the role immensely. To be able to utilise my knowledge of the industry to help members increase their business and identify new opportunities for growth is hugely satisfying.

"Three new members are joining in January and February so the big focus will be to make sure they integrate into the network and build their business quickly."

Fortec is looking forward to a busy 2016, building on the success enjoyed in 2015. The network now has 75 members and has invested in new IT systems that allow members to map, track and trace consignments, as well as easily communicate with each other to further improve the level of service they are able to offer to their customers.
