Dave Sparrow, MD of the Association of Industrial Truck Trainers (AITT) has been announced as a key speaker at this year's Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) Safety Conference. In his presentation, he will explain the role of the Accrediting Bodies Association (ABA) and the very significant benefits its formation has brought to employers – and to workplace safety standards.

The annual Safety Conference will allow delegates from every sector to hear presentations from companies who have dramatically enhanced safety on their premises and to share experiences, case studies and practical advice.

Dave Sparrow said: "I am really pleased to be invited to present at such a highly regarded event. The Safety Conference is widely acknowledged as the most influential and relevant conferences of its kind and it's a privilege to be invited to tell everyone about the ABA – and its many benefits to the public."

The ABA was established, in close association with the HSE, by 4 leading accrediting bodies for operator training – AITT, ITSSAR, NPORS, and RTITB. Its role is to deliver consistent, reliable standards across the training sector.

Dave explains: "The ABA benefits everyone who employs a fork lift truck operator by providing assurance that all courses delivered via these four providers will be to a consistent, independently audited standard. Moreover, because each of the four bodies maintains detailed and standardised records of every trainee, employers can check that job applicants hold the qualifications they claim and that certificates are genuine. It's surprising how many counterfeit documents are in circulation. Recruiting someone who isn't to the standards they claim can put the entire business at risk."

FLTA Chief Executive, Peter Harvey MBE, said: "We have invited AITT to present because it is very pro-active in shaping standards and frameworks for workplace transport training. They join an impressive and varied line-up of industry experts who have been carefully selected for their relevance and expertise."

The FLTA Safety Conference takes place on Wednesday 29th June 2016, at the Heart of England Conference and Events Centre, near Coventry.
