Jungheinrich has won the contract to provide the handling systems for IKEA Russia's new distribution centre.

A 45 metre high, high-bay warehouse measuring 200 metres in length and 130 metres in width, the store will offer a total of 210,000 pallet locations.

Jungheinrich group will act as general contractor for all intralogistics equipment installed at the new DC – which is located 50 kilometres north-west of Moscow - while also performing the role of systems integrator.

It is the biggest individual project ever undertaken by Jungheinrich and is due to be completed in 2017.

"Winning this contract underlines Jungheinrich's competence as a worldwide provider of integrated system solutions," commented Steve Richmond, Director of Jungheinrich UK Ltd's Systems and Projects Division.
