Materials handling manufacturer Sovex was recently invited to attend the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 conference and awards dinner at Sir Richard Branson's family home.
Representatives from the Wirral-based materials handling specialist, the fastest-growing company on Merseyside, joined fellow members of the elite Fast Track 100 at the Virgin boss's Oxfordshire home.
Executive chairman David Lindfield and managing director Michele Dematteis rubbed shoulders with the likes of Skyscanner chief executive Gareth Williams and Sunday Times business editor Dominic O'Connell at the event.
Lindfield said it was a privilege to receive the invitation to the 18th annual Fast Track conference and to receive a special award certificate after Sovex was named one of the UK's fastest growing firms.
"It was an honour to be invited to such a prestigious event," he said. "But it is testament to the growth Sovex has achieved in recent years that we were there. The conference featured speakers such as Gareth Williams and Fever-Tree executive chairman Charles Rolls. Dominic O'Connell then interviewed the likes of William Reeve, Majestic Wine chief executive Rowan Gormley and Starcount chief executive Edwina Dunn. It concluded with an hour-long question and answer session led by Sir Richard Branson. Events like this are informative and useful for companies like Sovex – especially as we have bold and ambitious expansion plans to build the brand in new international markets."
Conveyor manufacturer Sovex was ranked number 82 in the prestigious Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 in 2014 following three years of sustained, rapid growth. Between 2011 and 2014 Sovex saw sales grow by an average of 52 per cent every year.
The Prenton-based company, which specialises in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of vehicle loader and conveyor systems, is reporting a growing order book for 2015 with plans to recruit dozens more staff, including apprentices.
As part of Sovex's expansion plans, it also recently launched a new operation in the US to target its booming multi-billion dollar e-commerce and parcel-handling markets.
"Through hard work, engineering expertise and a passion for innovation Sovex has experienced rapid growth in recent years," said Lindfield. "But by breaking into new markets, winning new clients overseas and creating new products and services we plan to achieve even stronger growth this year. We believe this would not only be good for the firm, but also for our supply chain and for job creation on Merseyside."
