Toyota Material Handling received three awards for outstanding design at this year's IF Design awards for their BT Levio P-series powered pallet truck, Traigo 80 electric-powered forklift and Tonero engine powered forklift.

With growing competition in the design arena, this year iF (International Forum) received entries from over 60 countries, increasing the challenge for entrants to pass the intense scrutiny of the international jury. Toyota Material Handling are therefore proud and delighted to receive no less than three prestigious iF Design Awards for 2015, for three of their core truck ranges.

Tony Wallis, Sales and Marketing Director for Toyota Material Handling UK says "Receiving international recognition confirms to us that we are leading in the industry and the design of our products is based on sound principles. It shows that we understand the market and the needs of our customers and that we are putting their needs at the heart of our product development and design process".

Wallis adds "Although the look of our products is important to us, there are also a number of core values that underpin our design efforts, to make sure we are getting things right for our customers and they feel safe and comfortable driving our trucks".

The values of simplicity, but also driveability – the idea of putting the needs of the operator at the forefront is essential to the design process.

The iF Design Award jurors gave their stamp of approval to three of Toyota's trucks that matched their evaluation criteria. As a result of Toyota's global design approach the praised vehicles were all designed in different parts of the world. The BT Levio P-series powered pallet truck and the Traigo 80 electric-powered forklift were both created at Toyota's European Design Centre. The third award winner, the Tonero 3.5 – 8.0 tonne engine-powered forklift, was developed at the Design Office, in Japan. Again, all three vehicles share our core values and global design approach in common.

"What with all the time and effort you put into designing a quality forklift, it's tremendously rewarding to receive – not just one, but three – awards for outstanding design," said head of design at Toyota Material Handling Europe, Magnus Oliveira Andersson.

The iF Design Award Ceremony will take place on 27 February 2015, at BMW Welt in Munich.
Toyota's products will be on show in the iF Design Exhibition from 18 June to 20 September this year, in Hamburg.
