Logistics company NC Cammack & Son Ltd has joined the Fortec Distribution Network with a view to further expanding its business while making its operations more efficient.

The family-run firm, which started life in 1919 using horses and carts to transport coal, is now a logistics company with 22 vehicles, 55 employees and a 80,000 square foot warehouse which is BRC (British Retail Consortium) compliant for food storage.

Ideally situated in Colchester, Essex, handy for London and the ports of Felixstowe and Harwich, much of its business is distributing and storing dried fruits and general high value cargos that are imported into the UK.

The company joined Fortec because the network gives it the opportunity to make all of its journeys more cost-effective and also facilitates easier next day delivery for all of its customers.

Rod Tipler, General Manager, said: "We listened to a number of people in the market and the reports about Fortec were glowing. We found they provided a more personalised service than the larger networks.

"We see joining Fortec as a springboard for further growth and look forward to building our business with them."

Cammack's modern warehouses have CCTV-secured facilities, the company also carries out pick and pack operations for its customers and consolidates loads for delivery throughout the UK and Europe.

Watford Gap-based Fortec Distribution Network now has more than 70 members nationwide and has recently invested in IT systems, including a new 'Fortec Connect' App suitable for android devices, in order to further improve customer service.
