The Official Logistics Provider for the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Schenker Ltd., saw two of its employees participating in the Queen's Baton Relay recently, following nominations for their involvement in community sports.

Lorin McCrystal, Chairperson of the London Borough of Hounslow Swimming Club, was nominated by her colleague Kimberley York for her outstanding work, supporting swimming in the local community. Lorin has been involved with the club for nearly 25 years, a huge commitment which saw her join the club when her son was just 8 years old.

Today, Lorin is an active fundraiser for the club and is studying for her Judge Level 1 qualification, demonstrating how passionate Lorin is about the sport and her community. Lorin, Payroll Co-ordinator at London Heathrow has effectively transferred skills that she has developed in her role at DB Schenker Logistics, utilising her negotiation, communication and organisation skills to make a substantial impact on those who are involved with the swimming club.

Heathrow based Warehouse Apprentice, Hugh Smith (17), was also selected to take part in the Queen's Baton Relay after being nominated for his outstanding contribution to the Hillingdon Slipstreamers Cycling Club, which he joined at the age of just 11.

Hugh's determination to pass his skills to younger members of the club and help them develop as cyclists in his spare time is a reflection of his incredible work ethic, and makes him a very worthy participant of the Queen's Baton Relay.

Helgi Ingolfsson, CEO of DB Schenker Logistics in the UK, said: "DB Schenker has exceptional employees and we are delighted to have had two highly respected community champions taking part in the Queen's Baton Relay. Lorin and Hugh were fantastic ambassadors for DB Schenker at the Queen's Baton Relay and we can be very proud of their combined achievements."
