Shippers will take centre stage at Multimodal 2014 later this month, set to be the biggest in the show's seven year history, and the first to welcome both a Royal visitor and a football legend.

Hundreds of cargo owners, including names such as M&S, Lego, Nestle, and Halfords, have already registered to attend the free-to-attend show at the Birmingham NEC from the 29th of April to the first of May.

Over 280 exhibitors will take part, and the Shippers' Village, which gives freight buyers a private space to meet logistics suppliers, will host Boots, Tata Steel, and Jaguar Land Rover, amongst others.

This year will also see the launch of the Multimodal Awards at the show's VIP dinner on 29th April, sponsored by DP World London Gateway and hosted by Kevin Keegan.

"Multimodal is a one-stop-shop for shippers who need to find ways of optimising their supply chain and transportation flows," said Multimodal Director Robert Jervis.

"The show enables shippers to compare suppliers, explore new strategies, discover the advantages of different modes, and network with cargo owners.

"And this year, we are delighted to have attracted so many leading speakers to tackle the issues that matter to our visitors."

Multimodal has teamed up with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and the Freight Transport Association (FTA) to design a series of seminars and Knowledge Lounge sessions featuring over 50 industry experts.

Sessions will cover issues from modal shift, contracts, humanitarian logistics, and financing the supply chain, to correct packing of containers, portcentric solutions, and supply chain strategies for China.

On Wednesday 30th April, HRH The Princess Royal will take part in a panel for charity Transaid.

Speakers over the two-day event will represent companies including the Co-operative, Sainsbury's, Barclays, Network Rail, Unipart Logistics, Peel Ports, and PD Ports.

The show will also feature a new Air Freight Pavilion and two airfreight-centered discussion panels hosted by The Loadstar on Wednesday 30th April.

Multimodal attracts high calibre cargo owners, retailers and manufacturers, and last year some 6070 visitors attended including Amazon, Bacardi, Cummins, Debenhams, Edrington, Ford, Goodyear, Halfords, Iggesund, Jaguar Land Rover, Karcher, Lego, M&S, Nestle, Osbourne's, PepsiCo, QinetiQ, Ronseal, Sainsbury's, Toshiba, Unilever, Visy Recycling, Wolseley, Xylem Flow Control and Yara to Zodiac Stainless Products.
