One of the oldest coach and bus companies in Wales has recently upgraded its vehicle lifting equipment with the installation of Stertil Koni mobile column lifts.

Operating for over 87 years, and currently the largest independently-owned coach tour operator in Wales, Edwards Coaches is a provider of customised package holidays. With a fleet of over 190 buses and coaches - ranging from 29 to 70 seaters – the company has always upheld the highest standards during the maintenance and servicing of its vehicles. As part of the recent upgrading of its Swansea depot, Edwards Coaches decided to replace its existing mechanical lifts with two sets of Stertil Koni's ST1075FSF electro-hydraulic mobile column lifts.

Workshop engineers were instantly impressed with the versatility and simple operation of the new 7.5 tonnes capacity lifts which, when used as a set of four, are able to safely handle vehicles weighing up to 30 tonnes. In fact, the original two sets were so well received at Swansea that the company quickly ordered another two sets to support operations at its sister site in Llantwit Fardre, Pontypridd. This workshop complex was recently boosted with the opening of a new VOSA-authorised MOT facility that, in addition to the company's own buses and coaches, now has the capacity to test heavy goods vehicles and trailers, farm tractors, motor homes and other large road vehicles.

The ST1075FSF mobile column lifts feature a simple push button control box mounted on each of the columns. This allows an operator to control the operation of the lift (either individually, in pairs or simultaneously) from any one of the columns in the set. Providing a maximum lifting height of 185mm in just 75 seconds, this model is one of the world's fastest workshop vehicle lifts. In addition, the advanced hydraulic lifting system incorporates a microprocessor-controlled synchronisation feature to ensure smooth and precise movement at all times.

Tony Edge, General Manager of Stertil Koni, says, "We're extremely proud of the excellent build quality of our mobile column lifts. Our clients really appreciate their speed, versatility, safety and ease of use. With the recent opening of Edwards' new HGV and PSV MOT test facility in Llantwit Fardre, I'm confident that our lifts will prove to be invaluable in servicing the company's coaches and buses plus a wide range of their customers' road vehicles."
