Two-man delivery specialist Panther Warehousing has further added to its fleet with an investment of almost £500,000 in 20 new vehicles as it seeks to continue expanding its operations over the coming months.

The company, which operates out of three sites in Crick, Peterlee and Taunton, made the investment in preparation for anticipated growth in 2014.

Panther, which started as a general transport company providing a rounded service, has seen business boom since re-inventing itself three years ago, dispensing with general services to focus solely on the next-day, two-man delivery of furniture and heavy goods from one destination.

Now firmly established as the market leader in that field the company recently added one-man assisted delivery of appliances and large items to its service portfolio.

The new vehicles will be used to accommodate the continued increase in demand from Panther's fast expanding customer base.  Over the past 12 months alone the company has won £35 million of new contracts.

Colin McCarthy, Managing Director, said the new vehicles were essential for the company whose fortune were continuing to go from strength to strength.

He said: "Since switching our focus and revising our business model almost three years ago the vast majority of our business now comes from the B2C market, with online shoppers purchasing entire kitchens and bathroom suites as well as household furniture and appliances.

"Business has soared since we entered this new market and it continues to soar. We don't expect demand to slow down any time soon. By investing in the right vehicles which are more suitable for our line of work than our old fleet we are giving our delivery teams the right tools to carry out their jobs more quickly, efficiently and easily, with reduced risk of any damage to the goods. These vehicles will stand us in good stead for the future."
