Golf clothing specialist PING Collection Europe is confident of a better-than-par performance from Torque after appointing the company to provide a full end-to-end international logistics service.

Torque will now supply freight, warehousing, pick and pack, and fulfilment of all PING Collection Europe's wholesale, retail and e-commerce orders, handling its output from the goods leaving factories to being sold.

PING Collection Europe, based in Cheadle, Cheshire, designs, sources and manufactures golf clothing distributed across the UK and Europe. Torque will handle a mix of hanging and boxed garments for the client, as well as carrying out quality control on receipt of inbound clothes. The two organisations are also discussing the possibility of Torque providing further services, including re-works and embroidery.

Matt Markham, operations manager, PING Collection Europe, said: "We'd used Torque's freight capabilities before and been very impressed with the professionalism and friendliness we'd experienced, underpinned by the company's advanced systems. We had issues recently with our previous third party logistics provider and were looking to improve service levels from supplier to retail delivery, particularly turnaround times, a key area in the golf industry, so Torque were the obvious people to approach.

"The company has now begun providing an excellent service level - and full visibility - throughout the supply chain. Torque is becoming an integral part of the success of PING Collection, and we look forward to developing our relationship with the company further over many years."

The two organisations have signed an initial two-year contract for the comprehensive relationship, with a rolling year after completion.

Stuart Greenfield, business development manager, Torque, said: "We began our connection with PING Collection Europe by providing import and export freight services and later added all of the brand's air ocean and courier services.

"We're delighted to now be appointed PING Collection Europe's overall third party logistics provider and are looking forward to working with its people to enhance service levels even further in the future."

Torque is an independent company with a turnover of £60m employing over 680 people across sites in Leeds, Bradford, Wigan and London.
