Jenna Curbishly, Contract Manager, Wincanton, was the winner in the Young Manager of the Year category of the 2012 Annual Awards for Excellence from The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK (CILT). The awards were made at a gala dinner held at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, London recently. This award category was sponsored by Toyota Material Handling UK.
Jenna was the winner from a wide range of entries, which resulted in a shortlist which also included Marc Birt from DHL and Amanda Kunzli from Tubelines.
The on-going success of women in the transport and logistics sector itself is reflected in an all-female shortlist for this award in 2011, and two of the three finalists this year being female.
After joining Wincanton's graduate programme, Jenna rose through several roles, making progress towards her goal of being a director at 30. In 2010 she was implanted within an in-house warehousing operation, developing an outsourcing proposal for fashion brands. Despite the client's initial uncertainty, Jenna built up rapport and Wincanton won the business. Her site became a top health and safety performer, she delivered cost savings and a new revenue stream, order fill results improved and the number of customer complaints was reduced. In 2012 Jenna took over another fashion operation for Wincanton and quickly delivered improvements there too.
The award was one of fifteen presentations made at the event.
The awards are designed to promote and encourage best practice within logistics and transport. The quality of entries was particularly high this year – reflecting a growing commitment to excellence and customer care in logistics and passenger transport.
