Condor Logistics invests and recruits

Portsmouth-based distribution company Condor Logistics is expanding this year by investing in its vehicle fleet, equipment and workforce. The investment is part of the company's plans to expand, which began in January this year as they became a member of Palletways, Europe's fastest growing and largest delivery network for palletised freight.

Through Palletways Condor Logistics provide a full UK and European pallet network service to and from the postcodes PO6 to PO11, and PO18 to PO22, which supplemented and enhanced its existing Channel Island business and customer base.

Gary Thurlow, Operations Director of Condor Logistics, said:  "We have ambitious plans to grow and despite the tough economic climate we are continuing to invest in the company.  In the past six months we have recruited ten staff and invested in new equipment which includes vehicles, trailers, fork lift trucks and warehouse racking.  Furthermore, we have purchased new IT systems to support our expanding operation.

He continued: "We are committed to investing in our people by providing the best resources and training.  Within the first half of 2012 Condor Logistics provided industry's best practice training in the safe loading and unloading of vehicles in addition to the training in the UK and Channel Island to the European standard for the carriage of dangerous goods by road (ADR).   We are committed to continue our investment into next year through the purchase of more vehicles and hope the investment signals our commitment to expanding the company and achieve more growth. "

Andy Turner, Managing Director for Palletways Owned Operations, said: "Condor Logistics have achieved a lot so far this year and have put a lot of investment into becoming part of the network. They are a real asset to Palletways and we know that that they will continue to go from strength to strength."

The company, which has been established for over 60 years in Hilsea, also has offices in Jersey (St Hellier), Guernsey (St Peter Port) and St Malo. Over 175 people are employed by Condor Logistics across the different offices.

Condor Logistics vehicles have the latest in cab communication systems and real time vehicle tracking. Also, over 360 trailers have state of the art 'real time' tracking independent of the vehicle that provides added security and operational efficiency. The company has high standards and continues to retain its ISO awards year on year (ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001).

Palletways, which was founded in the UK in 1994 to provide an express delivery solution for small consignments of palletised freight, is today the leading dedicated pallet network in Europe and handles 21,000 pallets per day across all its operations.
