CargoWise has announced its continued expansion in mainland China following the successful adoption of its ediEnterprise software platform by Hong Kong-based freight forwarder S-Cargo Group Company Ltd.

The project, which began in March 2012 with the adoption of ediEnterprise in S-Cargo's Hong Kong headquarters, has now been extended to the Shanghai, Ningbo and Shenzhen offices in mainland China. S-Cargo director Adrian Chu says the software has helped to standardise operational procedures and processes, ensure consistent client service levels and improve internal communications.

"We are incorporated in Hong Kong, and we have offices in China, but we also have agents in the US and overseas," Chu says. "Operating a sophisticated hosted software system in China has its challenges, but we needed to adopt a more integrated information management system. The hosted ediEnterprise platform has allowed us to consolidate our operations on a single global database."

Mike Coney, Vice President of Business Development for CargoWise - Asia says S-Cargo is just one of a number of companies using ediEnterprise with CargoWise Hosting services to link locations in mainland China with global operations. According to Coney, the success of ediEnterprise software in the Asian market will accelerate as CargoWise continues to add and enhance local features and interfaces with government bodies.

"The S-Cargo deal is significant as it demonstrates the capability of ediEnterprise in the Chinese market and the capacity of CargoWise Hosting facilities based in Australia to deliver into the Asian region," Coney says. "It also will enable this very entrepreneurial, rapidly-growing company to compete against larger, well-established global companies."
