Pan-European logistics provider P&O Ferrymasters is set for a major lift in earnings from Sabic under a new contract with the world top five plastics and petro-chemicals manufacturer. The one-year deal for road transport across Europe marks further annual growth in a relationship stemming from 2002.

Under the latest agreement, the supply chain solutions specialist will again handle Sabic's Netherlands headquartered European operations through a dedicated account team in the Netherlands. The business will also involve five other P&O Ferrymasters offices - Barcelona, Bucharest, Katowice, Kiev and Hull. Most moves will be for Sabic's thermoplastics for industries such as automotive, aviation, electronics, healthcare and packaging. The main volumes are from sites in Cartagena, Spain, and Bergen op Zoom in the Netherlands to destinations including the UK, eastern Europe, Germany, Scandinavia and Italy.

Marcel Manshanden, P&O Ferrymasters general manager in Amsterdam, is responsible for the account and notes: "We have established a very good and open relationship with the decision makers at Sabic by taking a 'total package' rather than single orders approach to their requirements. As this suggests, the real strength of our relationship lies in our commitment to the long term."
