At CeMAT 2011 Dematic will be offering trade visitors a live demonstration of a complete material workflow including numerous brand new products on an 850 square metre area in Hall 27 (Stand G32). Here, the company will be highlighting its 'future-proof' range of solutions for resource-efficient and cost-effective intralogistics.

'111 Years of Innovations' will be the theme that this modern logistics solutions provider, which was founded in 1900, will feature at the show. Due to many system developments from storage and retrieval devices through to the Multishuttle the company has significantly shaped progress in the field of materials handling, or 'Intralogistics' over the past 111 years. The focus at CeMAT 2011 therefore is clearly set on the future, with the main thrust on the key topics of resource efficiency and flexibility.

Sustainability in intralogistics, the central theme of CeMAT 2011, must take into account all available resources; whether that's time and space, employees and materials, or energy. By constructing an entire operating system at the show in Hanover, Dematic will be demonstrating how this modern logistics requirement can be met in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way.

On the 850 square metre stand in Hall 27 (Stand G32), visitors will be able to witness how even loads of greatly varying sizes can be processed on just one system. The equipment integrated into the design of a complete in-plant material flow includes the new AKL Rapid Store storage and retrieval devices as well as a Dematic Flex Multishuttle (both with flexible load support), MCS conveyor technology as well as the world first Dematic IT Ecodrive and the high-performance Rapid Pick order picking station. The system design means that trade show visitors will be able to clearly track the components and, in particular, their performance capacity in optimal interaction.

Take for example the latest developments in the field of Multishuttle solutions. The flexibility of the new Dematic Flex Multishuttle allows different sizes of reusable containers and cartons to be handled on a system without having to transfer them onto trays. This also makes the Dematic Flex Multishuttle the ideal system for users with a wide range of load sizes; and there is also the Freeze version of the Multishuttle for the refrigerated sector. The patented Move Multishuttle also provides a glimpse into the future of intralogistics. The concept, developed in collaboration with IML (Institute for Materials Handling & Logistics in Germany), integrates small, driverless transport vehicles that can move around the warehouse in a flexible way. With this first system to feature 'cellular conveyor technology', the automation specialists are reinforcing their position as a key play in the field of future-oriented intralogistics solutions.

Another highlight is the premiere of Rapid Pick a new type of high-performance station for small parts order picking utilising the goods-to-person principle. With its innovative feed system, it presents the operator with up to 1000 pick containers or order lines per hour. Within a total solution it will, for example, provide the optimal design for the Dematic Multishuttle cycle. The complex yet flexible and configurable design also reduces space requirements and its ergonomics ease the load on the operator.

Compared to standard devices available on the market, the new, patent-pending Rapid Store AKL shelf-servicing devices deliver virtually double the performance. The modular small parts storage and retrieval devices can be fitted with different load carrying equipment. This means that thanks to a specially designed shifting axis, inward storage can be carried out with rapid store containers and cartons of different sizes between 200 and 650 mm wide and up to four deep.

In addition to many further hardware innovations, such as the new Modular Conveyor System (MCS) conveyor technology program, in Hanover Dematic will also be showing some of the ways in which modern IT can bring together environmental principles and cost-effectiveness, without efficiency and yield falling by the wayside in the process. The Dematic IT Ecodrive software to be shown at CeMAT is heralded as a world first and offers users a way to improve the energy efficiency of their systems and potentially also reduce tax at the same time. With entirely re-developed algorithms, Dematic IT Ecodrive permits an additional reduction in power consumption in automated warehouses of 10 to 15 percent. The operating costs of the automated components can be reduced by up to 20 percent in the process. This new software from Dematic meets the recording requirements for energy management systems conforming to ISO 16001 and is valid as evidence of energy-efficient system operation.

With these and many other developments, Dematic's trade show stand in Hall 27 offers a compact overview of the latest in technological developments and of future-oriented and trend-setting solutions for efficiency and flexibility in intralogistics. The stand, which covers less than 1000 square metres, also demonstrates how efficient intralogistics solutions give high performance without using a lot of space.
