Attending the recent IMHX (International Materials Handling Exhibition) event looks to have been a profitable move for loading and unloading equipment specialist Thorworld Industries, after it reportedly received more than double the number of enquiries and quotation requests for that time of year.

Over the course of the show, the company comments that it generated a record number of leads on its stand and in the two months that followed it has enjoyed a major increase in the number of enquiries, quotations and site visits.

Thorworld managing director John Meale, said he was pleased not only with the volume and quality of visitors to their stand at IMHX, but also the calibre of other companies exhibiting at the show. "Whilst IMHX has reported that the number of overall visitor numbers were down compared to the last event in 2007, I firmly believe that it succeeded in its aim to attract key decision makers in the materials handling sector.

"This was definitely reflected in our own experience and the number of strong positive leads the event generated, despite the economic downturn, has been extremely encouraging.

"We received enquiries across our complete product range, with our innovative new (patent pending) Sliding Nylon Dock Bumper creating considerable interest. As a result, a number of high profile companies are now undertaking site trials with this product and I'm confident that these, together with other enquiries received, will continue to translate into a strong order book for 2011."

Launched last year, the Sliding Nylon Dock Bumper features a heavy-duty, black, powder-coated steel frame, which can be fixed to sound concrete or steelwork on the loading dock.  This houses a solid block of nylon and a unique fixing method enables the incorporation of a thick, heavy-duty rubber packer at the rear.

Its innovative sliding design means that each nylon bumper can be turned upside-down and back-to-front to ensure even wear. This extends the lifespan by as much as four times that of a conventional nylon bumper and significantly more than that of conventional rubber dock bumpers.

"Our brand new 44 page full colour 2011 Product Range Brochure was also in great demand at IMHX," added John. "At Thorworld we work hard to provide a comprehensive range of products designed to enhance efficiency, safety and cost-effectiveness within the loading bay area. As our new brochure demonstrates, we are a one-stop single source for high quality loading and unloading solutions quite simply, if you need to move goods then you need our equipment."
