Geodis UK Ltd, which trades in the UK under Geodis Calberson, has been certified as an authorised economic operator (AEO) by HM Revenue & Customs. AEO is a new global standard in international trade introduced by the European Commission in response to an increasing need to apply consistent standards for operators in customs control and security process.

The award is recognised across Europe and allows Geodis, which delivers integrated supply chain solutions across 120 countries in five continents, improved and priority clearance for goods under customs control.

Jamie Cuthbert, Managing Director, Geodis Calberson said: "An accreditation scheme like this is so much more than a logo on our website and other marketing materials. The AEO offers us - and by extension our customers - genuine and tangible benefits in the form of increased efficiency and reduced bureaucracy when operating in Europe and beyond. At the same time it tells our customers that we meet the most stringent of standards in the industry. We as a company have worked hard for this award and are delighted that HM Revenue & Customs has recognised our efforts in this way."

Geodis UK is a fully-owned subsidiary of the French railway business SNCF Group, which employs 26,200 staff, runs over 600 operating centres across the globe and in 2009 achieved revenues of 6 bn Euros.  Geodis Calberson UK is Geodis' groupage division in the UK.
