DSV Tamworth assessed under SQAS


Transport and logistics company DSV has achieved SQAS, asafety and quality assessment for companies working with chemicals anddangerous goods, for its fourth UK site. DSV Tamworth has joined thecompany's depots in Purfleet, Manchester and Bristol in gaining theprestigious certification, which customers are increasingly demanding.


 
TheSQAS (Safety and Quality Assessment System) is based on Health, Safety,Environment, Quality and Security and looks at a company's systems,policies, documentation and business procedures. The assessment is overa two day period and includes a site inspection by an external assessor.
 
DSVTamworth's Head of Region, Huw Williams, says: "This certificationhelps us ensure we achieve best practice and document exactly whatprocedures we follow."
 
The office handles a variety ofchemicals and hazardous goods, including flammable liquids for theautomotive industry, chemicals for detergents and flame retardants.Most of the products are manufactured in the UK and exported to therest of Europe.
 
DSV Road is part of the DSV Group a globalsupplier of transport and logistics solutions. DSV Road's GeneralManager for SHEQ Victoria Beale says: "We hope that this assessmentwill lead to continued and new business in this area."
 
The SQASscheme was devised by the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC).Each assessment certificate and report is stored in a central databasewhich can be accessed by a company's potential and existing businesspartners.
