Kerry Logistics joint-venture company, Ghanim International Food Corporation (Ghanim), has successfully launched Brunei Halal range of products to Singapore-based supermarket chain NTUC FairPrice. Kerry FSDA, the trading arm of Kerry Logistics, and the Brunei Government established Ghanim in July last year to provide a comprehensive range of products and services for both Muslims and non-Muslims. FairPrice is the first supermarket chain to offer the Brunei Halal products outside of Brunei Darussalam.

"We are delighted to have our first success in Singapore with NTUC FairPrice so soon after the launch of the new joint venture and we are confident we will see further opportunities in Asia and Europe as we roll out the Brunei Halal range of products," said Antony Greenstein, Director of Global Business, Kerry FSDA.

Ghanim is working with global manufacturers to make products that suit local demand. They will need approval by Brunei's halal certification body before manufacturing and market them worldwide through Kerry Logistics' supply chain, under the Brunei Halal brand. Services include sourcing, distribution and marketing of Brunei Halal food products. Kerry Logistics will be involved in international freight forwarding and integrated logistics management to ensure compliance with strict Halal standards.

The Government of Brunei Darussalam aims to develop the brand to become one of the major players in the global Halal industry, from food and cosmetics to pharmaceuticals and lifestyle. More than 20 products including cup noodles, nuggets, chocolate, potato chips, prawn crackers, cookies, cheese puffs and sparkling juices, are available at many of its supermarkets and stores.
