Thermo King, the refrigerated transport solutions provider, is to launch its new trailer, the SLX 'Whisper PIEK certified', at the International Motor Show (IAA) Show in Hanover, Germany this month. Claimed to set a new standard in whisper quiet operation, the SLX 'Whisper PIEK Certified' unit will offer an effective solution for daytime or nighttime distribution of goods and perishable products.
The unit, which is based on the industry-leading SLX-300 platform, was developed to meet even the most stringent PIEK noise regulations as set out by The Noise Abatement Society. To achieve the standard, products are acoustically measured and must function at under 60dB(A) in order to be deemed suitable for night time deliveries without causing noise disturbance. The SLX Whisper is the only unit on the market that meets the requirements of the PIEK regulations on high speed mode.
With the SLX 'Whisper PIEK Certified', noise can be both reduced and contained at the source. Due to the integration of low-noise components, lower running speeds and critical internal design features to contain noise, sound levels are significantly reduced. The result is an incredible whisper-quiet unit designed to permit quiet night-time delivery without causing noise pollution.
The ability to operate in off peak hours, alleviates traffic congestion and enables faster delivery cycles. This in turn means less waste of fresh goods, cutting waste disposal and landfill and thus reducing CO2 emissions. Off peak operation also allows for improved local road safety, which further enhances the company's social responsibility and commitment to the community.
The unit comes with the usual environmental credentials that synonymous with the Thermo King SLX range and provides reduced fuel consumption for lower CO2 emissions and reduced particulate pollution.
