Karl Timmis has been appointed as Head of Full Load, Contracts, Haulage and Support Services for DSV in the UK. He replaces Andrew Fowler who has retired.
Mr Timmis, who started his career as a customs clearance clerk in 1984 in Harwich, has also been an active member of the DSV Group's central equipment board for Europe for the last three years.
DSV, the third largest road operator in Europe, is better known for its groupage services so Mr Timmis has been tasked with building the full load market, including European intermodal and container traffic.
"We have more than five hundred 45ft containers in our own fleet and we do about 15,000 full load container movements between the UK and the rest of Europe annually," he says. "This is in addition to the existing full load trailer movements which is in excess of 250,000 units a year."
