At the recent Forklift Truck Association (FLTA) Annual Awards ceremony, Jungheinrich UK Ltds Gunter Fritzsches outstanding work in the forklift truck market over four decades was recognized when he was awarded the 2010 FLTA Award for Services to the Forklift Truck Industry.

The FLTAs Services to the Fork Lift Truck Industry award is dedicated to individuals whose contribution to the materials handling world has been outstanding.

Gunter was presented with his bronze FLTA Archie statue by FLTA President, John Chappell.

In announcing Gunter as the winner, FLTA Chairman, Martyn Fletcher, said: While Gunter has worked across the whole breadth of the industry, he is best known and rightfully so as the king of the VNA truck. He has shaped this particular market practically by himself, and his fingerprints can be seen in almost any warehouse operating them.

Gunter, joined the Jungheinrich Group as a trainee in Germany before moving to the UK, has held a number of positions with the company but is perhaps best known for his role in establishing Jungheinrich (UK) Ltds Automated Systems Division at Wythenshawe, near Manchester.

The Jungheinrich (UK) Ltd Automated Systems Division that Gunter helped to found, now accounts for a significant proportion of Jungheinrichs UK turnover and Gunters business development, sales and project management skills have been a key to the success of the operation.

Hans Herbert-Schultz, Managing Director of Jungheinrich (UK) Ltd, says of Gunter: Quite simply Gunter Fritzsche has helped to shape the VNA product market over the last 40 years. During his career he has been and continues to be a key member of teams involved with the development of new and innovative products.

Furthermore, he has personally trained so many people many of whom have gone on to have successful careers themselves within the forklift truck industry and his knowledge and experience have ensured the success of projects throughout the world.
