The Cumbrian-based haulage company, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, also topped the Industrial Transportation category for Logistics, Distribution and Freight Services.

Of the thousands of brands initially considered, only the top 500 are deemed to be Business Superbrands and Eddie Stobart was placed 32nd in the prestigious annual listings above other global companies such as DHL, UPS and HSBC.

But the company is possibly best known for its Members Club.  The famous Eddie Stobart spotters have demonstrated a strong allegiance to the companys brand and faithfully followed the iconic liveried vehicles across the length and breadth of the country. With Eddie Stobart celebrating its ruby anniversary this year, the ranks of the Members Club are expected to swell as interest in the UKs favourite haulier continues to increase.

Eddie Stobart is renowned for its forward thinking and has embraced social networking platforms such as Facebook and Twitter to consolidate and grow its brand and to keep the public, its clients and shareholders fully informed and up-to-date with its activities.

The company now forms the road haulage element of the Stobart Group, a fast developing public limited company with wide-ranging multimodal transport interests. The UKs best-known logistics brand employs over 5,500 people at more than 40 sites, operates around six million sq ft of premium warehousing capacity, and has a fleet approaching 2,000 trucks.

Stobart Groups CEO Andrew Tinkler commented, Its fantastic for Eddie Stobart to achieve Business Superbrand status for the fifth year. We are extremely proud of our brand which has been built on solid and traditional core business beliefs. The announcement follows a robust selection process administered independently by The Centre for Brand Analysis. They analysed the views of a voluntary expert council and over 1,700 business professionals.

Now in its eighth year, Business Superbrands identifies and pays tribute to the countrys strongest B2B brands. This year software giant Microsoft takes the top slot, knocking Google off the top of the list.
