Kent-based Stapelhurst Trailers, a leading distributor of fresh fruit and vegetables, has added to its extensive fleet of refrigerated trailers and other temperature controlled vehicles with the acquisition of a new Schmitz Cargobull reefer.

The trailers livery has been designed to complement a distinctively-finished Scania tractor unit that forms part of Staplehursts vehicle fleet.

The refrigerated box unit of the trailer is white with Staplehursts name emblazoned in 3ft high lettering across its length. The trailers chassis is finished in red and Alloy wheels complete a stylish look.

The Scania tractor and Schmitz Cargobull trailer make an eye-catching combination that is certain to be noticed when delivering fresh produce on routes throughout the UK seven nights-a-week.

We have entered the Scania tractor into a number of truck shows across South East England and picked up several awards for the stylish presentation of the unit and the quality of its finish, explains Staplehursts founder and Managing Director, Colin Goldup. We felt that it would be a good idea to have a trailer that matched the cabs high level of finish, he added.

But the Schmitz Cargobull trailer doesnt just score points for its good looks. The refrigerated trailer box unit is constructed using Schmitz Cargobulls well established and proven Ferroplast modular steel-skinned panels to keep loads at the desired temperature. Ferroplast panels are filled with high quality expanded polyurethane foam and, importantly, their closed cell structure means that even if the steel skin gets pierced, water will not be absorbed.

Meanwhile, the trailers lack of welded joints and the fact that all parts of the chassis are made from galvanised steel, means that the unit comes with a 10 year anti-corrosion warranty.

The trailer, which was built in the UK at Schmitz Cargobulls production plant in County Durham, was bought outright by Staplehurst as part of the companys strategy to reduce the size of its rental fleet.
