January 2010 is set to be a new start to a new generation at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics UK as it launches an additional value added service known as the domestic shuttle service. The global logistics firm has devised the transport neutral distribution system for the UK, allowing all goods shipped through Hellmanns international products to be collected or delivered on the same vehicle.

Several UK forwarders utilise different domestic services depending on the transport requirements and Hellmann wants to change this restriction, especially in airfreight which is a classic example of the divide. For this reason, Hellmann will introduce a practical and efficient collection system for any international freight consignment, collecting all airfreight, seafreight LCL, European groupage and Systemplus consignments on the same truck at the same time from 1st January 2010.

This domestic shuttle system will link same night consignments from all Hellmann distribution locations to any other location within approximately six hours. For example, an airfreight consignment collected in North Wales can arrive at Hellmanns International Air Gateway at London Heathrow for 02.00 and then link to Hellmanns extensive flight departure programme for the same morning. The same shuttle system will also support links to the seafreight LCL Gateway and European Hub departures at the central Lichfield Distribution Centre.

Matthew Marriott, commercial director of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics UK commented:

Our customers will have the advantage of a Hellmann domestic truck collecting all consignments for different services at the same time. We believe continuous product innovation such as this to be a progressive way forward, developing and improving service for our clients. This is a key focus for our business within the UK.
