FreightScan, LLC, a leader in the development and deployment of solutions for the freight and logistics industry, has begun an evaluation with Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) for the automated FS100 cargo scanning system.

The evaluation calls for the installation of one FS100 automated dimensioning system at the Dallas Fort Worth airport cargo facility of World Flight Services, which handles cargo for airlines including KLM/Airfrance Cargo, Air Canada, US Airways, and China Cargo. Based upon the results of the evaluation, WFS is considering a permanent installation of FS100 systems at Dallas Fort Worth, as well as various locations within its global network. WFS will be using the FS100 system to identify accurate dim weight of the shipments it handles, as well as making the visual record the FS100 produces available to the air carriers it handles.

We are very excited about the opportunity to work with one of the largest cargo handlers in the world to demonstrate the efficiency of using FreightScans FS100 to dimension 100 percent of outbound cargo, said Randy Richards, Executive Vice President of Sales for FreightScan. The results thus far have been extremely positive, providing benefits that include both accurate chargeable weight and significant manpower savings with no disruption to existing workflow. The WFS leadership and staff have been outstanding to work with, and the Dallas Fort Worth facility is very representative of how the FS100 can create value for cargo handlers around the world.

Our team has been impressed with FreightScans automated dimensioning system, said Bill Payne, Regional Director for Worldwide Flight Services. The product is simple to operate, fast and accurate. For the evaluation at our DFW facility we opted to install the FS100 system over our 10 x 10 floor scale so we could dimension the cargo at the same time as the reweigh. One of the most intriguing features of the system is the ability to dimension four pieces of cargo with a single scan as well as providing a photo image of cargo. This has proved to be a very efficient process, and we are encouraged by the initial results of the evaluation. We are also eager to integrate the security screening capability once approved by the TSA.

Delivering unprecedented ease of deployment, the FreightScan FS100 system is compact and installs virtually anywhere in a warehouse, 15 feet off the floor, streamlining the dimming process, improving yield and maximizing warehouse resources. The system captures accurate dimensions of cargo in seconds, and creates a retrievable data record for each waybill including dimensions, scan images and digital photos.
