Transporeon sees chink of light for economy

First signs that there is an improving outlook for the UK economy have been detected by Transporeon.

According to monthly figures produced by the German e-logistics company, with a UK base at Waltham Abbey, the number of truck offers per load peaked early in 2009 and has been moving downwards since.

Starting in 2003 Transporeon has been using its exclusive TICAP system to measure the amount of freight capacity in the UK and across Europe. The latest figures show that the number of offers made by carriers for each load is back to the level of spring 2008, a drop of 50 per cent compared with the peak at the height of the world economic crisis.

Not only are there less carrier offers per load, but many carriers are managing now to maintain their prices at a reasonable level. Economies remain depressed, but the signs of an improving situation are there.
