Motor Transport finalist Twente Express, in line for the prestigious International Operator of the Year award, has announced further expansion of its European business operations with the acquisition of two new DAF trucks from CV Rental, part of the Allports Group.
CV Rental has supplied the two new DAF 105.460 tractor units, operating at maximum weight, on a five year contract hire agreement to Twente Express. The company will use the vehicles for its thriving Benelux business covering over 120,000 kilometres each year and operating 7 days per week.
The vehicles have been specially kitted out by CV Rental to handle Twente Expresss operating requirements, including the latest 460bhp Euro 5 engines, automatic gearboxes with engine braking and full air management. They will also have an excellent fuel consumption performance and will meet all the latest Euro 5 environmental regulations. Maintenance of the vehicles will be carried out as part of the contract at Allports Groups 24-hour maintenance facility at Fradley Park.

Twente Express was established in Lichfield 26 years ago and has just been chosen as one of only two finalists to be shortlisted for the prestigious title of Motor Transport Awards International Operator of the Year 2009. The company was set up by Trevor Paul in 1983 and has a staff of 24, three company directors and a fleet of 15 vehicles and trailers. The company provides both 24 and 48 hour door-to-door services from its Brownhills depot via Dutch depots based in Enschede and Dordrecht. Clients include Timberland, JCB, Muller, Siemens and TNT in addition to a number of large Dutch companies.
The company derives its name from the Twente region on the east side of The Netherlands, which borders Germany. In 1991, Twente Express was awarded the prestigious Anglo-Dutch award for Enterprise sponsored by the Netherlands British Chamber of Commerce and presented by the Dutch Prime Minister.
