The SLX-300 builds on the highly successful SLX-200 unit and is the latest addition to the market-leading SLX range from Thermo King. Offering all the outstanding features of the proven SLX range, the SLX-300 boasts higher cooling capacity and faster pull-down and recovery due to the use of an electronic throttling valve.
The SLX-300 also delivers improved fuel consumption ensuring that operators can improve efficiency and reduce operating costs. With fresh loads, fuel economy gains of up to 2 litres in a 10 hour day can be expected when compared to the SLX-200. With key performance features including a refrigeration capacity of 14200 watts at 0C, and 8100 watts at -20C, the SLX-300 is a great addition to the broad portfolio of models designed to fulfil the needs of many types of operation, especially the transport of temperature sensitive produce in low noise or low emission zones.
The new unit also features Produce Protection Plus, which provides the ideal conditions for fresh produce, including extremely precise temperature control and a continuous supply of moist and cool air (Temperature Modulation). Benefits of the system include minimised dehydration and weight loss, up to 60% increase in product shelf-life and the virtual elimination of top freezing. The SLX-300 is fitted with the industrys most advanced controller, the Smart Reefer 2 (SR-2), which has been designed to protect loads by simplifying the user interface and employing the latest technology to monitor system performance. The SR-2 incorporates the CargoWatch datalogger as standard, and responds to growing demands for top product quality and regulatory conformance. It is the most user-friendly control system available, offering an easy to read display, large buttons, simple and logical menus and a choice of 21 languages.
Laurent Debias, Marketing Manager for the SLX range, commented: All our product innovation is driven by what our customers want. We are confident that we have delivered another industry leading product solution. The SLX-300 will appeal especially to SL-200 operators who want higher performance at lower running costs and those who are working in noise sensitive urban areas.
The SLX range, launched in November 2007, has been an over-whelming success within the industry, with outstanding performance and results reported from end-users. The SLX range is now proven to deliver reduced fuel costs, whisper-quiet operation, efficient load protection and unmatched ease of use. By minimising fuel consumption, engine emissions and operating noise, the SLX provides end-users with the ideal temperature control solution for an environmentally-responsible and cost-sensitive operation.
The following graph shows fuel consumed over a six hour test against the SL-200e.
Both units were set to pull-down a trailer from +20C to -20C, and then hold the -20C box temperature.
The difference in fuel consumption after the six hour test was 2.14 litres (15%) in favour of the SLX-300.
The SLX-300 pulled down the trailer to setpoint 25 minutes faster than the SL-200e.
