The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK) is calling for nominations from across the transport industry for its 2009 Annual Awards for Excellence.

The Awards recognise achievements and encourage the highest standards and professional approach to the practice of logistics and transport.  Categories cover both individual and corporate achievement, and range through personnel and management skills, operational progress, safety and the environment.

CILT Chief Executive Steve Agg said: Times are tough in 2009 and our Awards process provides the ideal opportunity to promote good practice and achievement by both individuals and organisations, as well as recognising important contributions to the ever upward progress of our vital transport industry.

Being nominated as a finalist and winning an ultimate award represents a morale boost to personnel and a promotional opportunity for companies and other organisations.  This year we are looking for a record number of nominations in order to help shine a path out of the recession.

The CILT Annual Awards are open to any size or type of organisation including commercial companies, the armed forces, public utilities, charities, health services, local authorities and government agencies, and are recognised throughout transport, wider industry and the press as a prestige process.  Finalists will be invited to attend a Gala Dinner on Thursday 22 October 2009 where the winners will be announced and the awards presented.  The event itself, held at the Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, is attended by finalists, sponsors, members and guests and is anticipated as a sell out event with early booking advised.

A number of sponsorship opportunities for individual awards remain available.
