Nightfreight appoints Contract Logistics Director

Specialist delivery business Nightfreight has appointed an experienced professional to head up its successful Contract Logistics business whose customers include household names such as B&Q, Office Depot and Jungheinrich.

Ken Andrews joins the business as Director Contract Logistics with a remit to continue to drive this dedicated service element of Nightfreights business forward across a broad range of industry sectors. Nightfreight offers customers a dedicated contract logistics service that can be backed-up by the flexible costs available from the shared use network, to create a bespoke solution. Being able to switch customers from fixed to variable costs is Nightfreights answer to the credit crunch.

Ken joins from Assa Abloy, the Swedish-listed manufacturer of security hardware and electronics, where he was UK supply chain logistics director of the UK business.  Prior to that he was Development Director at PD Ports plc, developing a new port centric end to end logistics proposition. Ken was also at Exel plc in a variety of senior management roles across the business

Commenting on his appointment Ken Andrews said: I was attracted by this opportunity at Nightfreight because it is the only business capable of delivering the complete spectrum of consignments from parcels to pallets, through to larger difficult to handle freight and two-man home delivery shipments, via network or dedicated resources. As a result, it offers cost variability and the most flexible solution in the market which will particularly appeal to customers in the current economic climate.

In short Nightfreight customers can benefit from shared resources with dedication where necessary, the maintenance of service levels alongside inventory reduction, and a greater ability to handle volume fluctuations as well as access to Nightfreights economies of scale.
