RCS Logistics, a finalist in the Haulier of the Year category at the Motor Transport Awards 2008, has added six new Schmitz Cargobull curtainsider trailer to its fleet.

Corby-based RCS runs over 50 trailers and the new models will operate on routes within the UK mainland collecting palletised loads from production plants and delivering to national and regional distribution centres nationwide for clients as diverse as Avon Cosmetics and Ideal Standard the bathroom specialist

This is the first time that RCS has bought Schmitz Cargobull products and, according to operations director, Darren Beaty, the fact that Schmitz Cargobull were able to offer the shortest lead times of any trailer manufacturer was a key influence on the companys purchase decision.

The Schmitz Cargobull curtainsider is built in the UK to a high specification and the fact that Schmitz Cargobull could supply the product to us in a fraction of the time being quoted by other trailer suppliers at a competitive price made them very attractive, said Darren Beaty.

Ryan Mazgaj, Schmitz Cargobulls sales manager who advised RCS on the deal, commented: At our UK factory at Harelaw, County Durham, we have instigated significant changes to curtainsider  production processes that allow us to offer what we believe are the shortest lead times of any UK trailer manufacturer. It is encouraging that our ability to supply RCS faster than our competitors helped us to win this important contract.

In addition to its haulage services, RCS offers over 350,000 sq ft of warehousing space at its Corby site.
