The guitar of rock legend Jimi Hendrix has arrived at its new temporary home in Edinburgh.

DHL Express, which has had a global contract with Hard Rock Cafe for almost two years, was responsible for the security and delivery of the famous Jimi Hendrix guitar to Edinburghs Hard Rock Cafe.

The memorabilia was delivered under high security and remained in the constant care of DHL staff on its journey from Denver, Colorado.

The guitar, that has a colourful history, made the trip across the Atlantic on Wednesday before being transported to George Street in Edinburgh as part of Hard Rocks "Top of the Rock" awards programme, which recognises the top performing Hard Rock Cafes around the world with the honour of displaying special pieces from its famous memorabilia collection.

Each month, DHL transports the highly-valued guitars, once played by rock 'n' roll legends like Jimi Hendrix and Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley, to Hard Rock Cafes throughout the world. DHL exercises extreme care to ensure the guitars are delivered safely to their destinations which includes personal preparation by staff of all shipping documents, special attention to the packing and handling of the cases, monitoring at every transit point to verify their status, and involvement of DHLs security staff.
