PACK&MOVE the Swiss trade show for integrated logistics solutions and packaging technologies will open its doors for the first time.

A total of 238 exhibitors will present their products and solutions at Messezentrum Basel on a combined trade show floor space of 21,000 sq m (226,000 sq ft). The trade show will focus on industry-oriented solutions for the pharmaceutical and chemical, food and drinks, manufacturing technology, as well as mail-order and e-commerce industries.

A number of complementary events, such as the three-day logistics talks forum, the CommID forum by GS1 and the SWISS STAR packaging award ceremony, will underline the importance of PACK&MOVE as a meeting place for German-speaking Europes packaging and logistics industries.

What will the packaging of tomorrow be like? Where is the logistics industry headed? PACK&MOVE event organiser Swiss Exhibition has set out to represent the complete logistics and packaging process chain.  The combination of logistics and packaging is demand-driven.  Companies from both industries will be represented more or less equally. Among those attending PACK&MOVE will be well-known packaging providers and many major logistics specialists, including Jungheinrich, SSI Schfer, Markem, TESA, Prodinger and Multivac.

The trade shows offering is geared to the most important client industries. Specialized solutions for the food and drinks, pharmaceutical and chemical, manufacturing technology, and mail-order and e-commerce industries will be exhibited. Trade visitors and exhibitors will equally benefit from the emphasis on key industries: For exhibitors, this will allow for industry-targeted presentations of their products; for trade visitors, it will ease orientation and the search for solutions relevant to their industry. Industry-specific hall maps will highlight those companies which offer solutions to each respective industry.  Further, packmove24, the online exhibitor and product directory, allows visitors to narrow their search for industry-specific solutions.

The three-day logistics talks forum

A number of first-rate complementary events will underline the importance of PACK&MOVE as a meeting place for the packaging and logistics industries. At the logistics talks forum, providers of integrated logistics solutions will make presentations about current prime examples of logistical solutions already at work in large depots and distribution centres, as well as trends and visions for the future. Companies such as DHL, SBB Cargo, Victorinox and PostLogistics will thus present their industry-specific solutions. Professor Wolfgang Stlze from St. Gallen University will open the forum with a presentation titled Logistics and Sustainability.

Michel Kunz, Director of PostLogistics, and Ren Kamm, CEO of Messe Schweiz, will jointly open the forum on Tuesday, November 18 at 1:30 p.m. Stephan Klapproth, anchorman of Switzerlands news program 10 vor 10,  will act as the forums moderator.  Admission to the forum is free of charge for trade show visitors. A detailed programme is available for download at http://www.packmove.ch/ .

GS1 Schweiz at PACK&MOVE

GS1 Schweiz, the Swiss trade association devoted to promoting more efficient value-adding networks (logistics and supply chain management) through standardised identification and communication as well as harmonised processes, will organise two different PACK&MOVE events: CommID, its traditional forum, and GS1 talks, a series of interviews that will take place hourly between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

SVI: The SWISS STAR packaging award ceremony and the Well packaged, well shipped SVI Symposium

On Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 4:30 p.m., the Swiss Star award will be presented by SVI, the Swiss packaging institute. The Swiss Star showcases Switzerlands packaging business. All nominees and award winners will be exhibited at the SVI stand.

On Friday morning, in order to address the topic of hazardous materials and technical packaging, SVI will hold its annual symposium in cooperation with EGI, the Swiss federal hazardous goods inspection agency. Industry experts will be on hand to provide information about changes to shipping regulations, cooperative efforts with logistics providers, as well as the particularities of shipping hazardous materials by train and air. The symposium will conclude with a progress report on the implementation of REACH.
