Tompkins Associates (Tompkins) has named transportation expert Don Anderson as Vice President of Transportation Services.

Anderson joins the growing team led by Gene Tyndall, Tompkins Executive Vice President for Global Supply Chain Services. Tyndall notes that transportation is a crucial area for companies to concentrate on in todays world-based economy. With increasingly complex global supply chains, fluctuating fuel costs, and the move to minimise expenditures, transportation and logistics is a good place to begin making changes, he says.

Jim Tompkins, President and CEO of Tompkins Associates, further states, Don knows how to help organizations save money, as well as improve customer service, with transportation operations excellence. We welcome the experience and insight that he brings to our organization.

Spanning more than 25 years, Andersons career has focused on global supply chain operations and transportation and encompasses a number of industries including aerospace, automotive, high technology, retail, consumer goods, and government. Client engagements range from developing and implementing global transportation and logistics strategies to leading elite, tactical teams focused on delivering specific solutions in technology optimization, service improvement, and operations cost reduction.

Andersons client-centric views strongly complement Tompkins mission. With the economy compelling businesses to revisit all aspects of their operational efficiencies, smart companies know that it is time to fine-tune logistics and transportation processes and systems, says Anderson, who will be based in Tompkins Atlanta office. We want to help clients cut costs and improve customer service in the most efficient, economical way possible. Its about optimizing all resources and tools already available within a company to realize immediate results, and then layering in additional improvements as more resources become available, he adds.

Prior to joining Tompkins, Anderson was a founding executive of Greenline Systems, a supply chain operations security software firm, and was a senior member of the Ernst and Young Global Supply Chain and Transportation Consulting Practice.

He attended the University of California, Davis, majoring in Industrial Engineering and Business Administration.
