Pall-Ex Takes its place in Asda's logistics team

ASDA has named pallet distribution network Pall-Ex as a nominated carrier. Pall-Ex will be responsible for collecting freight from ASDAs UK stationery vendors, which it will then consolidate at its Leicestershire based central Hub, before delivery to ASDAs own distribution centre in Doncaster every week.

This will mean that ASDAs Doncaster distribution centre will receive fewer deliveries of small consignments, which are crucial to its sales effort, but can slow the flow of distribution, due to their irregular delivery patterns.

With total UK and European coverage, Pall-Ex is ideally placed to undertake nominated carrier schemes of this type, where it collects, consolidates and delivers small consignments to customers distribution centres or even direct to stores at pre-arranged, convenient times. ASDA and other customers not only improve efficiency with a smoother flow of logistics, but also have a single point of contact for freight traceability and also benefit from cost savings and a reduction in administration.

ASDA is one of many major retailers working with Pall-Ex, which prides itself on its ability to tailor services to suit each individual customer.

Hilary Devey founder, owner and CEO of Pall-Ex says of the contract: We are looking forward to working with another fast moving retail organisation. We have so much expertise in providing quality service in FMCG and ASDA has recognised our sector-leading standards.

Lee Hodgkin, Primary Operations Manager for ASDA, states: "This relationship will allow us to manage our inbound flows more effectively and maximise our inbound capacity."
