Delamere Dairy has appointed Culina Logistics, the multi-temperature supply chain specialist, to provide a shared-user storage and distribution service for its ambient milk products.

Established in 1986, Delamere, based in Knutsford, Cheshire, is the leading UK supplier of goats milk and related products, including yogurts, butter and cheese. It also supplies a major share of the UKs ambient sterilised cows milk in plastic bottles.

The companys range of chilled products have been stored and distributed by Culinas chilled food and drink operation for over five-years.

By integrating the distribution of products into one logistics provider, Delamere will benefit from supply chain efficiencies and a robust UK platform that meets retailers delivery requirements.

Adding the ambient operation sees sterilised milk, UHT goats milk and pet milk products collected from Delameres production facilities by Culina and stored at its Warrington and Goole sites.

Liz Sutton, joint managing director of Delamere Dairy, says: Culina has demonstrated that it can consistently deliver the service our demanding retail customers require.

With the integration of operations, the company can now provide the perfect one-stop solution, which is a real advantage for our business and all our customers.

Orders are received by EDI (electronic data interchange), picked using hand held RDT (radio data transfer) scanners to ensure a high degree of accuracy and despatched within 24-hours.

The combined contract will see nearly two million cases shipped per year to a wide spectrum of customers, including most of the leading supermarket multiples as well as regional retailers and major wholesalers.
